Podcast / Audio Post #4: Sewing Vs Kids

"So Zo attempts to define her entire life in sewing while barely awake at the behest of sewing widow Mr. SoZo. It all breaks down when D-Lo refuses to stay in bed. Can Zoe Edwards survive in the cut throat world of home sewing bloggers when not one but two little people have invaded her home and are both refusing to leave? Are any non-parents still following her blog? When was the last time she blogged a new stunt dress with a cocktail in shot?

Who even is she anymore?"

Thanks for sharing this, I'm pregnant at the moment and have had similar thoughts about time and how to be creative in the future. It's great to find other people talking about it.

hahahaha! Actually, yes, I am a childless person who still follows your blog. Mine are now 31 and 25 and I certainly sympathize with the problem of being creative when you are just so busy!!! The only creativity seems kid oriented-new dress for Christmas, an original Halloween costume, the list goes on. On the up side, I now have all the time in the world to learn and experiment with my many interests. On the down side, I don't have my kids near anymore. All in all, I would take the kids.

I'm here. Never had children and don't want to. I have plenty of nieces and nephews and love children in general. I just don't want any of my own. Anyhow, I love your blog :)

I just loved this! Been following your blog for about a year and a half, it was so much fun to put a voice to your writing. I'm also in the boat of trying to sew and do creative type things during naps and in the evenings (my kids are 5,3 &1) but many times my lack of energy gets in the way as well. Best wishes from Canada.

Hi Zoe, I have a boy and a girl, both still in Primary school. Creativity time comes after everything else sadly, and I usually don't get to sit down to sew until 11pm when everyone is finally asleep and jobs are done. The only glimmer of light is if you work outside of the home in a place where you get an actual lunch break, you can sew some small, portable sewing projects, I have even been known to trace out, or stick together PDF patterns in a lunch break! Congratulations. It does get easier :) Cassandra

I've been following your blog for years (many years! I remember your wedding dress) and have no children yet. I'm encouraged by 1. The fact you are successful in ethically dressing your child (I remember you talking about it in the podcast before you had the first) and 2.the fact you managed to make it through pregnancy/ post natal body/ back to original/ a second pregnancy while still wearing me-mades and secondhand mostly. It gives me hope I'll be able to do the same when my time arrives, despite everyone telling me otherwise.

Btw - what do you think about cloth diapers? Duable?
(Sorry I didn't listen to the podcast yet, the volume it too low on my device).
